Cards and qualifications
Construction Cards and Tickets: Which Do You Need?
Find the card or course route for the work you want to do. Construction trades, electrical work, supervision and plant operation have different requirements, so check the employer’s exact request before paying. Already qualified? Keep your existing tickets, expiry dates and CV together.

Save its expiry date and add the tickets you hold to your CV. Start without an account; saving across devices and optional expiry emails use an account.

Choose the route that fits the job
For electrical work, read the ECS card guide. The ECS scheme distinguishes electricians, apprentices and support roles; Scotland uses SJIB. A short 18th Edition course is not a complete electrician qualification.
For supervision or management, compare SSSTS and SMSTS. For plant work, compare CPCS and NPORS and the exact equipment categories in the advert. These are different decisions, not interchangeable certificates. Scheme guidance checked 27 September 2026.
Already have cards or certificates?
You can save a list on this device or choose an account to keep it across devices. Email reminders are a separate choice, off until you ask for them. Calendar reminders are also available without signing up. On a shared device, avoid saving personal information you do not want the next person to see.
In the free CV builder, choose whether to import those saved tickets. Your other skills and qualifications stay unchanged. An expired ticket is not printed as current; a missing expiry stays labelled as missing. You can build and print a CV without an account.
New to the trade? Start with a real opportunity
Check apprentice pay rules, prepare a short CV with your availability and practical experience, and search jobs near you. Do not list a card as held just because you plan to apply for it.
Check the advert, not just the ticket name
You can compare those names with a saved list, but matching a family such as CSCS or CPCS does not prove that your colour, level, category or endorsement is right. Ask the employer to confirm the requirement and accepted evidence. UKTJ does not certify competence or guarantee entry to a site.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need every construction ticket before applying?▼
No. Start with the particular occupation and employer’s requirements. Buying unrelated courses is not a substitute for the qualification, experience or supervised route that the role needs.
Can I save my cards without creating an account?▼
Yes. You can keep your list on this device and download calendar reminders. An account is optional for saving across devices and requesting expiry emails.
Does a matching ticket mean I qualify for the job?▼
No. UKTJ compares names mentioned in the advert with your own saved information. Check the exact card, level, equipment category and other requirements with the employer.
