South Yorkshire Adult Education Budget

The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) has managed the region's Adult Education Budget since 2021, giving Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster direct control over how training funds are spent. Sheffield has a proud industrial heritage — and with the city's massive Heart of the City regeneration, West Bar development, and thousands of new homes planned, that manufacturing and construction DNA is more relevant than ever.

Sheffield is also the UK's unofficial capital of welding and fabrication, with a cluster of specialist firms and the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) right on the doorstep. SYMCA AEB investment reflects this, with strong funding for both traditional construction trades and advanced manufacturing skills.
